2996. Robert Southey to Henry Herbert Southey, 11 May 1817

2996. Robert Southey to Henry Herbert Southey, 11 May 1817*

Calais. Sunday morning.11 May 1817

My dear Harry

Here we are after a slow but easy passage of 14 hours, – having lain all night off the mouth of the harbour. Give Bedford a line to notify my safe arrival, it will save him postage & save me time.

Let me find a letter at the Post Office Geneva, – before we arrive there I think you will have news to tell me, which I shall be anxious to learn. [1]  Direct there if it happens before this day month, – if later to Brussels.

Love to Louisa & Mrs Gonne

God bless you

RS
