Dear Bedford

God willing I sleep in town on Tuesday night next. Wednesday if agreable I will spend with you the last day for some months. the offer you made me at our last meeting I will be happy to accept & shall be obliged to you for the loan of one guinea for travelling home. you will think me mad when I tell you I mean to walk to Bath. Thursday morning I intend to ride to Salt Hill (xx 20 miles from town) because the road is flat ugly & near London thence equipped in my oldest cloaths to sally on with a great stick in search of adventures & eat at the country alehouses so that I may see a country life & manners in its grossest view — do not object to the scheme when I am tired upon the way I will sit down & write an ode — you may expect to see me to breakfast on Wednesday next
