1621. Robert Southey to Henry Herbert Southey, 29 April *
My dear Harry
I am pushed for time – yet not so pushed but that I can be at Durham on Wednesday the 9th. It would however be far more agreable to delay my journey two or three days. Let me therefore know on what day the Grand Engagement is to take place, that I may not needlessly hurry myself, nor leave my business imperfect.
Edith I believe is half-disposed to put off her journey altogether for a reason which was not foreseen when this time was fixd for it. But hereafter it might perhaps be more inconvenient than now, & this consideration with an unwillingness to disappoint the Edithling, & my own persuasion, will prevail. Our love to Mary. I rejoice to hear of Tirante il Bianco, with whom I have very long wished to become acquainted.
God bless you
Sunday. April 29.
