My dear Sir
I have great pleasure in informing you that the Books have reached me this evening, – from whence I know not, very damp & covered with mould, but not in the slightest degree injured by this, – they are now lying before the fire & will in a few hours be in as good condition as ever. I am very sorry for the trouble this affair has occasiond you, – & sorry also to learn by your last that you were indisposed at the time you wrote.
Believe me my dear Sir
Yrs very truly
