Portrait of a Jacobin
John Shilletoe
The Tomahawk (November 16, 1795)
[Translated from No. XIV. of the TOMAHAWK.]
A fellow, who would murder KINGS!
Whose ev'ry word CONFUSION brings!
A foe to LAWS and SOCIAL ORDER!
Wishing for nothing but DISORDER!
A soul of FILTH, to use the satire;
A wretched outcast of DAME NATURE!
A MONSTER just escap'd from HELL!
A PEST which all THE WORLD can tell!
A TYGER thirsting for HIS PREY!
Destroying ALL that's in HIS WAY!
A MASS of every FILTH combin'd!
The horror of the HUMAN KIND!
This PORTRAIT is a JACOBIN!
