We begin with an engraving of Stonehenge, created by Robert Wallis after a watercolor by J.M.W. Turner. This image demonstrates the effects of light and dark which will recur throughout this gallery, and which take the viewer gradually into the world of supernatural art by depicting a scene from the real world.
