Catherine Ross

Catherine Ross earned a Ph.D. in English at the University of Texas at Austin in 1998, where she won the University’s Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award for her study of the relationships between people of science and letters in the long eighteenth century. Dr. Ross teaches Romantic and Victorian literature, rhetoric, and literature and science at the University of Texas at Tyler. In 2011 she won the University of Texas System’s Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award. In 2013 she was selected by a panel of outside readers as one of the twelve Founding Fellows of the UT System Academy of Distinguished Teachers. For the past two years she had served as President of the Academy. Ross is presently completing a book project that explores how the Anglo-classical grammar schools, Oxford, and Cambridge helped to shape writing and literary careers in the Romantic and early Victorian Periods. Dr. Ross has also published on Wordsworth, Coleridge, Robert Browning, and the educational prose of the Romantic Period.
