Devoney Looser

Devoney Looser is professor of English at Arizona State University. She is the author of two books, both published by Johns Hopkins University Press, Women Writers and Old Age in Great Britain, 1750–1850 (2008) and British Women Writers and the Writing of History, 1670–1820 (2000). She is the editor of Jane Austen and Discourses of Feminism (1995) and of The Cambridge Companion to Women’s Writings of the Romantic Period (forthcoming, 2015). In summer 2012, she directed a National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminar for College and University Teachers on Jane Austen and her contemporaries. She is at work on a study of Austen’s reception, The Making of Jane Austen, and a biography of the sister novelists, Jane and Anna Maria Porter.
