Jerrold E. Hogle

Jerrold E. Hogle is Professor of English and University Distinguished Professor at the University of Arizona. The winner of national-level awards for teaching and Guggenheim, Mellon, and other fellowships for research–and recently the Distinguished Scholar Award of the Keats-Shelley Association of America–he has published widely on Romantic and Gothic literature, as well as on literary and cultural theory. His books include, among others, Shelley’s Process (Oxford UP), The Undergrounds of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ (Palgrave/St. Martin's), The Cambridge Companion to Gothic Fiction, and The Cambridge Companion to the Modern Gothic (the latter two from Cambridge UP). He is now at work on analyzing the Gothic-Romantic relationship in influential texts and films.
