Pedro José Marquez, Mexican author, b. San Francisco del Rincon, Feb. 11, 1741, d. Mexico City, Sept. 2, 1820. Became a Jesuit in 1763, was a professor of Latin. The Jesuits were expelled in 1767, and Marquez moved to Rome, where he wrote his principal works (on architecture and fine arts). He returned to Mexico in 1814 and resumed teaching. All his works written in Italy appear to have been published in Italian only --from Library of Congress
