Cynthia Schoolar Williams

Cynthia Schoolar Williams is Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Wentworth Institute of Technology.  Her 2014 book Hospitality and the Transatlantic Imagination, 1815-1835 explores how estrangement and belonging are given formal expression across a range of post-Napoleonic texts concerned with national identity formation. In more recent scholarly projects, Williams’s focus has shifted toward the eco-historical. She currently serves as director of the Center for Sustainability and the Environment for the Colleges of the Fenway, a consortium of five schools in Boston.
