Donald H. Reiman

Donald H. Reiman, Adjunct Professor of English at the University of Delaware, has since 1965 been Editor (now Co-Editor with Doucet Devin Fischer) of Shelley and his Circle (Harvard Univ. Press) under the auspices of the Carl and Lily Pforzheimer Foundation in New York. He is also Co-Editor of Shelley's Poetry and Prose (W.W. Norton); Editor of The Romantics Reviewed, The Romantic Context: Poetry, General Editor of Manuscripts of the Younger Romantics, and The Bodleian Shelley Manuscripts (all Garland Publishing); and Co-Editor with Neil Fraistat of The Complete Poetry of Percy Bysshe Shelley (Johns Hopkins Univ. Press), the first volume of which appeared in January 2000, and a revised edition of the Norton Shelley's Poetry and Prose.

His other books on Shelley and the Romantics include Shelley's "The Triumph of Life" (Illinois), Percy Bysshe Shelley (Twayne), Byron on the Continent (with D.D. Fischer), English Romantic Poetry, 1800-1835 (Gale), Intervals of Inspiration: The Skeptical Tradition and the Psychology of Romanticism, and Romantic Texts and Contexts (Missouri), and he co-edited The Evidence of the Imagination: Studies of Interactions between Life and Art in English Romantic Literature (NYU).

Before he became so over-specialized, Dr. Reiman's essays and reviews included work on Beowulf, Chaucer, Kyd, Shakespeare, J.D. Salinger, Hopkins, Arnold, and Henry James. More recently, he has written and lectured on Cowper, Yeats, Stevens, A. R. Ammons, and a number of contemporary poets, while devoting more time to textual and editorial theory of various periods, as exemplified in The Study of Modern Manuscripts: Public, Confidential, and Private, his Lyell Lectures in Bibliography (Johns Hopkins).
