A prolific English poet and novelist. Her first collection of poems, The Fate of Adelaide: A Swiss Tale of Romance; and Other Poems, sold well but received little critical attention. Her other collections The Improvisatrice, and Other Poems (1824) and The Troubadour: Poetical Sketches of Modern Pictures, and Historical Sketches (1825) were extremely popular. She also worked as the Gazette's chief literary reviewer.
