Meri-Jane Rochelson

Meri-Jane Rochelson is Professor Emerita of English at Florida International University, where she is affiliated with the programs in Women’s and Gender Studies and Jewish Studies.  She is the author of A Jew in the Public Arena: The Career of Israel Zangwill (Wayne State UP, 2008), and editor of two of Zangwill’s major works: his 1892 novel Children of the Ghetto (Wayne State UP, 1998) and his 1908 play The Melting-Pot (Broadview, 2018).  In 1994 Meri-Jane co-edited Transforming Genres: New Approaches to British Fiction of the 1890s (Palgrave-Macmillan).  Her most recent book, a scholarly and personal biography, is Eli’s Story: A Twentieth-Century Jewish Life, published by Wayne State UP in 2018.
