SUBMISSIONS POLICY
Romantic Circles Praxis publishes themed scholarly essay collections in Romanticism and related fields. Issues generally include 4-6 essays and an introduction, with essays running between 4,000 and 7,000 words. If you are interested in publishing an issue, please send the Praxis editors a brief proposal (2-3 pages), including a detailed outline of the issue, description of the importance of the topic to readers of Praxis, the anticipated completion date, anticipated word count, and brief contributor bios. Please also include a current curriculum vitae for the special issue editor (or editors).
All proposals undergo a careful peer-review process. First, Praxis editors must agree that the proposed issue is worthy of consideration and has the potential to make a valuable contribution to Praxis, Romantic Circles, and to the study of Romanticism and related fields. Praxis editors then bring the proposal forward to the Romantic Circles Director.
If the proposal is deemed worthy of consideration by all parties, then the special issue editor will be invited to submit the full special issue, once complete, for external review. The Praxis editors will solicit reports from two peer reviewers, who remain anonymous. Praxis editors in consultation with the Romantic Circles Director then weigh the reader reports in making a collective decision about whether to publish. If this decision is positive, then the issue undergoes a separate process of stylistic mark-up, copyediting, proofreading, and sometimes more extensive revision.
