My dear Sir

I recommend to your good offices Dr Channing of Boston,

(1)

William Ellery Channing (1780–1842), Minister of the Federal Street Church in Boston 1803–1842, and foremost spokesman for Unitarian opinion in the United States.

– who comes to me with the character of the most eloquent & able preacher that America has yet produced. He brought letters to Wordsworth as well as me, & we have both been highly interested by him.

Excuse the haste with which this is written, & believe me

ever yours truly
Robert Southey

Keswick. 17 July. 1822
